Johnny Carson quotes are coming to web. Although Johnny Carson was off The Tonight Show long before YouTube, the comedian's footage will be available online. The owner of Carson's 30 years on The Tonight Show, Carson Entertainment Group, has digitized all 3,300 hours of his existing footage and created a searchable online database for media professionals. A new Carson website will offer rotating batches of clips from his old Tonight shows. And new DVDs are coming out as well.
It has been announced that the deserved lauding and the far and wide accolades attributed to the late television personality, Johnny Carson. As you know, Mr. Carson died in 2005 and yesterday his will was finally probated as CNN reports and we learned that he left over a $150 million to various charities. This is quite a sum from any benefactor, including Mr. Carson, but according to Page Six, this was a man who refused to see his only granddaughter and refused to read her letters penned from Florid, simply because she was black.

Apparently, one of Mr. Carson's sons, sired a child with an African American woman, and it is alleged that when Mr. Carson heard about the child, he treated the granddaughter and his son like pariahs. As you know, it is told that the granddaughter was left out of the Will. Really the late great Carson's archives of more than 3500 hours of The Tonight Show have been digitized and will be released online through the re-launched. One result of this huge archiving effort will be an upgraded website for fans containing dozens of clips for ready viewing.
The archive, overseen by former 'Tonight' producer and Carson nephew Jeff Sotzing, will live at JohnnyCarson.com. It will feature all the extant footage of Carson's landmark 1962-92 tenure, which continues to set the standards for late-night comedy to this day. Much of the first 10 years of the show has been lost, but in the early '70s, Carson renegotiated his contract with NBC and won the rights to his reruns, tapes of which were stored 650 feet underground in a salt mine in Hutchinson, Kansas.
